Visitors

Allevia Hospitals welcomes visitors

Allevia Hospitals categorises two types of visitors:

  1. Visitors
  2. Key Support Person

Patients may be accompanied by one person (friend, whānau member, or carer) throughout the admissions process.

Following their procedure, patients may receive visitors between 12 pm – 8 pm.

Respiratory symptoms

Visitors are not required to wear a mask.

Visitors are asked not to come into our premises if they have respiratory illness symptoms.

Key support person

On occasion, patients are accompanied by a key support person throughout their stay at Allevia Hospitals. A patient’s key support person may be:

  • A parent or guardian of a child under the age of 17.
  • A carer of a patient with an intellectual or physical disability.
  • A companion to a patient nearing end of life.
  • Other – as agreed with the Charge Manager or Clinical Nurse Advisor.

Patients wishing to be accompanied by a key support person should ask their specialist or secretary to notify Allevia Hospitals Customer Support via [email protected] 3-5 days before their admission, and their specialist or secretary will advise them directly of the outcome of their request.

Patients may have one key support person, normally between 8am – 8pm. However, alternative arrangements may be made by prior agreement.

For key support persons who are assisting a patient in the capacity of a parent or guardian of a child under the age of 17, carers to a patient with a disability, or companions to a patient nearing end of life, there is no charge. For all other scenarios, a charge will be incurred for overnight stay and meal costs.

Smoking and vaping policy

Patients and their visitors are advised that Allevia Health premises, including Allevia Hospitals, are completely vape and smokefree.

Visiting hours

Across both our hospitals our normal visiting hours are 12pm – 8pm.

However, alternative arrangements may be made by prior agreement.
