Mr Choi undertook his medical degree and surgical training in Australia, matriculating at the University of New South Wales, Australia, in 2011, followed by internship and residencies at Central Coast Local Health District and at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
Mr Choi then commenced as a neurosurgery registrar in Canberra Hospital for two years prior to selection to the Surgical Education and Training (SET) program in Neurosurgery, completing year long rotations in the Canberra, Nepean, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and John Hunter hospitals over 5 years. He completed his final year of training at the Auckland City and Starship Hospitals where he was admitted as a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (Neurosurgery) and stayed on in Auckland as a consultant neurosurgeon in 2022.
Mr Choi further completed an advanced year long paediatric fellowship in Alder Hey Hospital, Liverpool UK, one of the Europe's busiest paediatric neurosurgical centers, undertaking training in all aspects of complex paediatric brain and spinal conditions.
Returning to Auckland as an adult and paediatric neurosurgeon, Mr Choi continues a comprehensive practice of both adult and paediatric neurosurgery, covering broad aspects of brain and spinal pathologies.
